Hearts of Oak defeated King Faisal in Accra on Sunday to return to winning ways in the Ghana Premier League.

Kwadwo Obeng Jr, who missed the last two games due to suspension, was the hero as his stunning goal on 24 minutes secured victory.

In attendance was Sulley Muntari who has reportedly signed a one-year deal with the reigning Ghanaian champions.

The win sees Hearts close in on top four but they remain 10 points behind leaders Asante Kotoko who played on Friday.

The Porcupine Warriors were too strong for Great Olympics as they recorded a 2-0 victory at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi thanks to a brace by Franck Mbella.

Mbella registered his seventh and eighth goals of the season in the first half. The Cameroonian converted a penalty in the 10th minute and added the second in the 34th minute.

Mbella and his compatriot Mfegue Omgba have proven to be great signings for Kotoko. They have scored a combined 12 goals in the league.

Omgba grabbed the winner in the last game against Medeama, also played in Kumasi.

Medeama bounced back from the defeat with a slender 1-0 win over Elmina Sharks in Tarkwa. The win moved them to third, overtaking Aduana Stars who were stunned at home on Saturday by Bechem United.

Legon Cities produced a splendid performance to claim a resounding 3-0 win against Eleven Wonders to climb out of the relegation zone and compound the problems of their opponents.

Wonders are second from bottom following the defeat.

WAFA earned their first win against Bibiani Gold Stars after four successive draws.

Real Tamale United drew 1-1 with Karela United and Berekum Chelsea made the most of home advantage as they beat Accra Lions 3-1.
