President Nana Akufo-Addo has nominated Mavis Jane Cynthia Naa Torshie Lamptey as the deputy Special Prosecutor.
This was contained in a communique read by the Speaker, Professor Mike Aaron Ocquaye, on the floor of Parliament on Thursday April 26.
The communique has been referred to the Appointments Committee of parliament for her vetting.
Ms Lamptey is a lawyer and has been practising for 30 years now. She has over 20 years’ working experience at the Attorney General’s Department until she was relieved of her post in 2015
If approved, she would be reunited with Mr. Amidu, whom she had worked with in the past under the late John Evans Atta Mills administration.
Grapevine Reports
Deep throat sources had earlier hinted that Ms Cynthia Lamptey, a former Director of Public Prosecutions, will be named Mr Amidu’s deputy.
Cynthia Lamptey has prosecuted land mark cases, including embattled businessman and NDC financier, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, in the GH¢51.2 million judgment debt saga.
She was also in-charge of the prosecution of Alhaji Imoro, former acting director of the National Service Scheme who is standing trial for allegedly stealing GH¢86.9 million belonging to the state.
